MICHAEL BALLACK - Ankle - After going under the knife in April, Ballack required fresh ankle surgery in July after complications in his comeback. His return date is uncertain, but he is not expected to be seen in Chelsea blue until mid-November.
WAYNE BRIDGE - Pelvis - After fracturing his pelvis during Chelsea’s tour of America, Bridge is expected to be out until October.
RICARDO CARVALHO - Ankle - A sprained ankle means Chelsea will do without Carvalho at least until 15th September
DIDIER DROGBA - Knee - Chelsea have been very reticent to the comment on the severity of Drogba’s injury, so his status remains unknown
FRANK LAMPARD - Thigh - Lampard’s thigh strain means he won’t be playing for England or Chelsea until 12th September

GILES BARNES - Foot - after breaking his metatarsal in the play-off final, Barnes’ recovery has not gone entirely to plan. In a weeks time he will have another scan to assess progress, but it is unlikely he will be ready to play until mid-September

AARON HUGHES - Ankle - Hughes will be fit on the 1st October
LEE COOK - Knee - After a couple of set-backs, Cook’s potential return date remains unknown.

FABIO AURELIO - Achilles Tendon - after Aurelio suffered a complete rupture of the achilles tendon in his right leg back in April, it will come as no surprise that he could miss the start of the season. Look for him to return to the side in mid September.
JAMIE CARRAGHER - Rib - A broken rib has ruled Carragher out until October.

VALERI BOJINOV - Anterior Cruciate Ligament - After being injured so early in his Man City career in the derby with Man Utd, Bojinov will return in January

BEN FOSTER - Anterior cruciate ligament - The young goalkeeper could be back in training at the start of November.
PARK JI-SUNG - Knee - After being operated on by the now legendary Dr. Richard Steadman, Park could still be out until 2008.
GARY NEVILLE - Thigh - A muscle strain similar to that which has afflicted Frank Lampard will mean Neville misses until 20th September
WAYNE ROONEY - Foot - Another metatarsal break for the boy wonder, who should be fit to return in early October

ROBERT HUTH - Ankle - After making only eight Premier League starts in his first season at the club, Huth will be glad of the knowledge that he’ll be fit in time for the 2007/08 campaign on the 30th September.
MATTHEW BATES - Anterior Cruciate Ligament - After a ligament problem kept Bates out of almost all of last season, he has now suffered a reocurrence. It would be a big surprise if he was seen before January.
EMMANUEL POGATETZ - Knee - A catilage problem will keep him out until 25th September

JOEY BARTON - Foot - Barton underwent surgery on the 23rd July on a partial fracture of the fith metatarsal in his left foot. He is unlikely to be back before late September.
DAMIEN DUFF - Foot - A badly broken foot will keep Duff out until November.
EMRE BELOZOGLU - Ankle - Emre commenced ball work in late July, and is hopeful of returning in a few days.
PETER RAMAGE - Anterior Cruciate Ligament - Ramage will be lucky to be back before April.

AARON BROWN - Ankle - A succession of ankle problems have prevented Brown from ever making a first-team appearance for Reading. If, as expected, his recovery is completed in late September, he could finally achieve that at least.
